Wallpaper – it’s BACK!

The thing is wallpaper never really went out of style. High end designers have been using it for years!

NOT YOUR GRANDMOTHER'S WALLPAPER

Back by popular demand, in households everywhere, wallpaper is making the ultimate comeback. Gone are those velvet walls that stand guard over the shag carpet. 2022 wallpaper trends offer a plethora of design choices! Whether it’s bold patterns, or a simple muted design, wallpaper makes a statement. Where paint just won’t cut it, wallpaper delivers a fun atmosphere and can define a room. Featured here are a few standouts in wallpaper design. Note: only one of these styles are accomplished by professional designers.

BRING THE OUTDOORS IN

This fun print livens up this room! One of the best features about this look is you can have minimal accent pieces. Let the wallpaper anchor the space. Not having to buy accessories can save money and yet the look is on point. This cozy corner beckons a cup of tea and a good book.

BATHROOM SAFARI

Who says small rooms can’t have a big impact? This safari wallpaper is stunning! The color combination of the robin’s egg blue accented with green leaves and the striped tiger is timeless! Goldie has added a gold faucet, matching hardware to the white vanity and a perfect round mirror. It’s worth the effort to shop around and source just the right print!

IF MICHELANGELO ONLY KNEW

One word to describe putting wallpaper in a coffered ceiling: GENIUS! If Michelangelo would have thought of this, the Sistine Chapel would never have been finished. This idea is brilliant because it gives depth to the space and offers another design option instead of beadboard.

SIMPLE STYLE

Here wallpaper brings a natural vibe to a bedroom. A soft floral print in muted tones accented with the jute rug gives a sophisticated Bohemian vibe. Simple and stylish, this wallpaper backdrop is a design win.

UNCONVENTIONAL COLOR

A delicate print of different shades of blue vines gives this wallpaper pizazz. This take of the traditional green vines is charming and makes a great choice for a small room. Notice the use of mixed metals? Chrome faucets and gold towel hook and edge on mirror make the room. In smaller spaces it’s a great idea to cover all the walls with paper and can make the space feel bigger.

WALLPAPER'S FIRST LOVE - IN KITCHENS

Back in the day, kitchens were primarily where wallpaper gained popularity. Who remembers when borders first made their debut? Here is a modern take on an accent wall in the kitchen, a wallpaper landscape. Can you imagine if it was left as just a huge white wall? Wallpaper is less expensive than a piece of furniture and here is a great example of how the right pattern can be crowning glory.

MODERN MURAL

Wallpaper is the perfect modern take of a mural. Gone are the tacky, irrelevant images of the 1990’s. Here the finished effect is much more streamlined than paint and when coupled with a natural element, the finishing touch is sophistication. The unexpected choice of a foggy trees print in this bathroom was chosen by a professional designer, Sharon Biro of SmartSell Staging.

THE BOLD TOUCH

If you follow design at all you’re familiar with the term ‘pop of color.’ Throw caution to the wind and go bold. Push the chips to the center of the table and go all in! This wallpaper is an oversized pattern, and the colors are electric! When paired with the honey oak hardwood floors it’s simply marvelous. Don’t be afraid to embrace bold choices- as you see here it not only works, but it’s setting a new standard.
